First and foremost, it is important to remember that an 8 month old dog is still a puppy with lots of energy. Puppies, especially breeds like schnauzers are high energy and require adequate attention and energy expenditure as well as training. I recommend obedience training for ALL puppies so if you haven't already, enroll him in an obedience class ASAP. In the meantime, it may sound silly, but until he is in a place where is more well trained and therefore less destructive, do not provide him with bedding in his crate, trust me he will be fine
