helping a dog with SARDS

My 8 year old lab lost his sight 3 years ago after we moved. Do you have any references for dealing with blindness in a dog who has had sight. He no longer runs and doesn’t seem to enjoy his life with his 3 y o golden retriever brother who is very kind to him. How can we help him become more confident.

This must be really tough! I don't have MUCH experience with this issue, however, keeping his routine the same and keeping routes for walks etc as well as furniture placement etc the same is very as he will learn where things are using his other senses and changing things can set him back! It also may be worth it to consider a companion animal for him
