Have a ball this fall with your furry friends!
Fall is filled with fun seasonal activities that you can do with your friends and family, but don’t forget about your furry bestie at home! Pets can fall in love with autumn too if you just give them the chance. Animals rely on association to learn new things, so you can actually teach your dog to enjoy fall with you by coming up with fun stuff to do every year.
Here is a list to get you started!
Visit a pumpkin patch
Pumpkin patches are often pet-friendly and have fun activities like hay rides and photo booths.
Get lost in a corn maze
Sometimes corn mazes are attached to pumpkin patches, but sometimes they’re so big that they need their own plot of land. Take your dog to help you through the maze with their strong sense of smell and navigation skills. It’s good exercise and bonding time, and it’s just the right amount of spooky for the season.
Host a Halloween costume contest and then go trick-or-treating
Pet costumes are adorable, and they’re the perfect excuse to take some photos and build new memories. When you’re done with your photo shoot, take your pet with your family and friends for a night of trick-or-treating on Halloween.
Teach new tricks
It’s the season of trick-AND-treat for your pet. Brainstorm some new tricks you’ve always wanted your pet to learn, or practice what they already know and reward them for their efforts.
Make some pumpkin goodies
You don’t always have to buy the treats on the shelves in pet stores. You can try to bake your own! Pumpkin is a major symbol of fall, it’s healthy for dogs to eat, and it can even help them feel better when their stomach is upset. Just don’t overdo it with the pumpkin treats because it is possible to give your pet too much of a good thing, and be careful to only use pumpkin without any added ingredients.
Embark on a fall hike
With all the treats your pet (and you) are probably eating during this time of year, a chilly walk through the neighborhood under the falling leaves is just what the doctor ordered. Fall hikes are a beautiful way to allow your pet to burn off extra energy and calories. Be wary of certain dangerous plants that could be tempting for your pet to eat though.
Invite your pet to a tailgating party
Is your pet the social type? Bring them to the tailgate party before the weekend football games and show them off to all your friends. Your pet will surely love the extra attention and love.
Loving and bonding with your pet is always in season, but fall is especially wonderful for spending time with your furry friends. Take advantage before all the fall leaves are gone!
