We have 2 cat brothers that chew/eat everything. Why do they do this?

They were rescued at 8 mo. old & were strictly outdoor kittens. We got them neutered and are kept indoors. They will soon be 5 yrs. old, but still chew/eat everything. And I mean everything. I’m wondering if it’s because they were raised outdoors & were used to eating small critters.
