Urinating outside the litter box

My cat has been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. She’s on special diet and cranberry supplement. However, she is still peeing outside the litter box (she uses it too). I’ve tried everything from changing her box location, changing the box several times, changing the litter, cleanings out her box 2-4 times a day, etc. I’ve had to put puppy pads in her preferred areas she goes to. Is there anything else I can do, I’m desperate. She just won’t consistently use her box anymore ever since she was diagnosed. Or, is this just common with her disease and there is no way to get her to just use her box anymore?

Hm this sounds like a tricky one! There are anxiolytic medications that you may want to talk to your vet about trying which can help with inappropriate urination when all other attempts are unsuccessful. However, sometimes this is just a side effect of CKD given that they simply have to pee way more often. have you also tried having multiple litter boxes?
