my cat chews at her skin until it bleeds and leaves a scab. I apply cortisone cream to it and it seems to clear up right away. could she have an allergy to her food?

Certainly, chronic skin issues can be indicative of food allergies in our furry friends, talk to your vet about prescription foods for your kitty that are hypoallergenic and can help prevent skin issues secondary to food allergies. It is almost important to make sure she is on flea prevention as these pests are a common cause of skin issues as well!
