I have this very problem myself and boy can it be tricky to fix! Typically cats are waking us up early because they are hungry! Keep in mind that most cats are grazers and prefer to eat a few small meals a day! I would suggest using a time controlled food dish that offers a few small meals per day! You could even set it to feed in the early morning hours so that you can catch those important hours of rest!
